ALWAYS TRUST CONTENT FROM KC ORACLE:

April 25, 2008:

"Herm would not be my first choice as coach. He probably will fail in KC and I can’t imagine that he will ever last somewhere longer than about five years . . . "

Today and for the past 90 Days:

Haley was a bad choice, is in over his head, will never reach 500, and will not finish three years as coach.

This is a good win regardless of how many people call it lucky. These are the games that the Steelers win. They are known for pulling out close, hard-fought wins. We beat the Super Bowl Champs at their own game.

Chambers does have a little left in the tank. I believe that the Chargers did release him for personal reasons (and the fact that they had better WRs and could cut him). Who knows how much longer he has, but I believe he can contribute the rest of this year and next year.

We won two weeks ago and we won last week....beat the Chargers on Sunday and they call that a winning streak. It has been done before.

I was wondering if anyone was going to comment on how the guy on this blog who was most supportive of Herm Edwards is the guy who is most critical of Todd Haley. I'd call that strange, but then you factor in what I think about both of those guys, and it suddenly makes perfect sense.

Chambers seemed to think that his dismissal from the Chargers was personal. It could be that the Chiefs are finally on the good end of a bad personnel move. I think he's legit, although, like our offense in general, he only seems to get going toward the end of the game. It was great to see the defense fired up on Sunday. That DJ sack was one of my favorite plays of the year. We're still a terrible team (we got killed in every statistical category) but the ability to win a close game is something we certainly didn't have last year. So that's the first sign of actual improvement I've seen.

Meant Chambers looks like he is still "pretty good," not "pretty old" (which he also is). It was funny that he said he went out of bounds on the last catch rather than trying to score the touchdown because he did not want to get hit again.

The over reaction to the fun and lucky win is entertaining. I think the media likes Haley on a personal basis, so it is giving him so slack. Jason's nonsense about positive energy is probably just an attempt to keep from being shut out entirely by the Chiefs.

Chambers looks like he is still pretty old. But in 2 or 3 years that it will take for the Chiefs to even have a chance to be good, he will will be too old. To the exent winning 6 to 8 games rather than 3 to 6 is important, he has value next year.

As to the the win, it would have been about a 34-17 loss but for the Studebaker pick on the wobbly pass and the Charles touchdown return.

Haley has won more games this year than Schwartz, Spagnuolo, Mangini and Morris and just as many games as Cable, Mora, Jauron and Zorn. He's lost only 1 more game than 5 other coaches. So that's about half the league (I'd say half this league is pretty much awful this year) and he's sitting right in the middle of it. I guess what I'm saying is, I'm not real excited about any of the first year head coaches. McDaniels looked great early on but you're suppose to keep improving over the course of a season right? An ape could coach Indy and they'd still have only 1 or 2 losses. Haley is a first year head coach who's been able to coach his team up against the Ravens, Cowboys and Steelers. Admittedly he's made some serious errors with personnel(Pollard looked great last night even with Gruden trying his best to reverse him with that hyperbolic performance) and decision making but I would argue that this team looks better than it did last year. If he wins 7 games with this team he'd be coach of the year for the second half.

I read in the paper that Chambers ran out of bounds on the last pass play because he did not want to get hit again. I wondered. The play was right in front of us and it looked like he gave up, and could have cut back to the middle and possibly scored. He said the same thing about being able to score in the paper.

He is a very interesting pick up and a pretty high caliber receiver, although at 31 it is questionable how long he can play at a high level.

The KC Media coverage today was funny. All of a sudden, Jason is writing that Haley looks like he might be a good coach, just because stole a win from the Steelers. He did make the right call in going right to the field goal attempt. It is about a 99% success rate at that distance, so why not.
