LJ is released on 11/9/09. The lesson is always trust content from the KC Oracle:

Comment by KC Oracle on October 27, 2009 4:20 pm
Whitlock, as usual, has an interesting take. He thinks LJ’s antics are a gift for the arrogant Haley and Pioli, in that attention is taken off of them and they should keep him all season. I think Whitlock is correct short term, but long term it is another black mark for both of them. The story also will largely be over in a few days, so belatedly, it is time to cut their losses and release him next week. The season is enough of a disaster already and to have the could of LJ haning over it is unnecessary. Hey, when we get to the “fourth quarter” and get to reset our record from 1 and 11 to 0 and 0, we don’t want LJ around creating negativity.

I heard some good local radio today. 810 had Herm on and 610 had Vermeil on, at about the same time. Herm was very entertaining. Vermeil less so, because he remains in coach speak not saying much of anything. Both were generlly kind to the Chiefs and especially to Haley.

Herm was funny. He kept on spouting off about how "90% of the time" if a team blocks a punt and returns it for a touchdown, they win the game. I assume Herm has no research whatsoever for his 90% claim. He said that the had seen it "a couple times" when he was coaching. It was funny because St. John pointed out the the Chiefs had blocked a punt for a TD against the Ravens and still lost. Herm quickly said he remembered - I doubt that he did.

Herm made one legitimate point, hardly creative but true. There was discussion about high salaries and Herm said that every time a player steps on a practive or game field, he has to accept that it might be his last day of football (so they deserve big money). I tend to agree with that. Herm had an anecdate that on his first day of summer camp with the Eagles, another rookie corner got blocked on a end run, hurt his knee seriously and never played again. Who knows if it is true, but it is a good story illustrating the point.

Herm also had an interesting theory about how much a challenge a 5 and 3 team faced in getting to the playoffs. Again, who knows if it is actualy true (I assume most 5 and 3 teams actually make the playoffs), but he used it to illustrate how much a challenge Houston faced as the result of not winning yesterday.

I don't know if these are regular features on the local radio, but the interviews were very interesting.

By the way, the Star reporter Kent Ba___ tweeted yesterday that Pollard was a very bad influence in the clubhouse and suggested that he should have been cut despite superior talent. I saw he intercepted a pass for Houston [?] yesterday.

The Chiefs continue to stink. Now they will be focused on 31 year old Chambers being the answer. He probably will not a catch another TD all year.

Well, that is one hell of a PR move to cover up an awful game and gameplan. Kill Public Enemy #1 to get back in good graces with the fans. Pioli/Haley just bought some goodwill.

Yesterday really pissed me off. Lance Long is a fucking joke. He is a pet project of Pioli/Haley - they are trying to prove they can find a Welker in a "guy off the street". I dont care that he was 8 for 74, I care about his drops the last few weeks and his bonehead play at the end of the half. If you think this guy is more of a playmaker than Bowe you are crazy. I'm sure Bobby Wade was just floored yesterday with that stunt. Also Sean Ryan is a fucking joke (same pet project as Long). He is so fucking bad I can't take it. Haley drew up a nice designed play for him yesterday and it clanks right off his hands - and my Lord, have you seen him try to block? It really is comical.

Mike Brown - OUCH. Might time to put that old dog down. I wish there was a safety available who has the skill to pick off the best QB in the NFL twice in a game. (Bernard Pollard yesterday if you must know).

Haley: You actually were running the ball yesterday - why did you abandon it? I like Charles and Smith - they hit the hole hard. The FG at the end of the half was dumb and almost cost us Colquitt.

I lost some confidence in my coach/GM yesterday.

Bobby Wade was deactivated today in favor of a Lance Long-heavy gameplan. Some may question the wisdom of continuing to humiliate your best offensive players. Some here have certainly questioned the effectiveness of awkwardly worded and condescending "inspirational slogans". But these are tried and true leadership methods. I'd refer you to Winston Churchill's "We Shall Never (assemble under such circumstances as to give rise to the notion that we might) Surrender" speech, and to his giving General Montgomery a swirlie before the battle of El Alamein. We all know how that campaign turned out, so have patience.

Really looking forward to Tyson Watch. I've had a hard time finding him on the field. Jackson is kind of like dark matter - in a theoretical sense, you know he's out there, but it's hard to find any visual evidence of it.

Latest sign: "There are a lot of exit doors in pro football, one of them is, 'Well, the coach didn't have us prepared.'" What mickey mouse stuff.

I think Big Hatt is on the money with "They seem to think acting like an asshole is what creates wins, when really the reason Belichick and Parcells get to be assholes is because they win. They’ve got the cause and effect all turned around."

yeah good point on the backwards cause and effect. the chiefs are like a gates-type restaurant, except they are new, they serve bad food, and no one has ever heard of them. so when would-be patrons happen to stroll in, and they are accosted by the employees for stepping out of line, they have no reason not to tell them to fuck off.

maybe a better analogy would be the soup nazi, who refuses to serve certain customers, and insists on keeping his recipes top secret. only in this case, he is serving bowls of pee. still, many customers go home happy, slurping every last ounce of pee while leaving angry comments slamming the head food critic.

maybe i've gone too far with this analogy

It really has become a mess. These guys (Pioli and Haley) are just so confused. They seem to think acting like an asshole is what creates wins, when really the reason Belichick and Parcells get to be assholes is because they win. They've got the cause and effect all turned around. It's embarrassing. You just can't act the way they act without earning it. They seem to think they already have. They're wrong.

Also, we should prepare ourselves right now for another bad offseason. Good players will not want to come here. That hit home for me when I saw the sign, and its really depressing. The only way we could get anyone good to sign with us is by overpaying, and we all know thats not going to happen. There has been one constant in the Chiefs strategy these last 5 years:

"DO NOT SPEND MONEY. It is cheaper to plant the idea that free agency is stupid. These fans will believe it. They'll believe anything. They're fucking retarded."

That's what the sign outside of Clunt's office says.

after seeing that sign, i realized it was all over. i was previously operating under the notion that it is only a matter of time before we improve. we bring these guys in thinking they are draft specialists. like "alright finally we got guys who can DRAFT. here we go now"
take ryan succup off the list, and youre left with what could end up being a really, really bad draft. obviously i'm going to give a couple players some time but man we could be in trouble here.
what that sign should have said is "We are out of touch with the media, the players, and the fans."
there were some red flags early on. like during the draft when pioli told everyone at the press conference to "not go anywhere", then proceeded to not make any moves with other teams.
and the way we scavenge the remains of discarded patriots is embarrassing. the whole thing is a mess.

Good link to Jason's interview. His criticism is scathing, but he is repeatedly pointing out Pioli and Haley may change. Not likely. Great line that "the guy [Pioli] makes Carl Peterson look like Mother Theresa."

Glad to see you are finally realizing that Haley, and probably Pioli, are a joke. On the radio today, the guys said there was another sign by the door to the practice field that said "There Are Many Doors Out of the NFL, Don't Take One."

Can you imagine Haley and whoever sitting around and coming up with the idea of writing these signs and thinking it is a good idea. Kind of like them sitting around after four losses and deciding the thing to do was to say the season is split into four quarters and they are now 0 and 0 in the second quarter. If they are that stupid, and wasting their time on that kind of stuff, they will never succeed.
