Say what?!?

Believe me, I’m as shocked as you are.  I thought we were going to lose this game by at least 20.  I had resigned myself to it.  Hell, I had resigned myself to the Chiefs losing every game.  I still think losing until Herm gets fired is probably in the best long term interests of the team.  Anything that helps the Lie Guys keep their jobs is ultimately bad for Chiefs football.  But I wasn’t thinking about that while I watched the game.  I couldn’t help but get caught up in how awesome it was to see the Chiefs winning again.  And not just winning, but beating an undefeated rival!  It doesn’t get a lot better than that.  So yeah, this win could be dangerous long term, but I’m still pretty happy about it.  Even though I hate everyone in charge, I am still a Chiefs fan when its all said and done.

A few quick reactions to the game:

1) Demorrio Williams needs to be a full-time starter.  He looked fast and active out there.  If he wasn’t wearing a cast he would’ve had a great pick, and his face-first dive over the line was a thing of beauty (even though he didn’t make the tackle).  I know Donnie Edwards will be back soon, but we need to keep Williams in the lineup.  People say Edwards is too old and worn-down to play middle linebacker anymore.  They might be right, but he’s definitely not too old and worn down to play middle linebacker better than Pat Thomas.

2) Our rookie corners look legit.  They don’t back down and always seem to find themselves right in the thick of things.  I really like these guys.  I considered getting another dog and naming him Brandon, since between our corners and Albert the future of Chiefs football is pretty much tied to that name.  Unfortunately, I can’t really afford another dog.  Plus walking 2 dogs at once would be a nightmare.  Stella is already a handful.

3) Branden Albert’s injury was a bummer, but I love how Herb Taylor comes in and gets a nasty pancake on the very next play.  Herm looks stupider every week for keeping Taylor on the bench while Adrian Jones and Damion McIntosh stink up the right side.  Seriously, Fat and Fatter are a joke.  When Branden Albert comes back Taylor needs to be given one of their spots.  Enough is enough.

4) When we have a real quarterback in this is a totally different team.  If Thigpen (or Croyle) had started we would’ve lost that game, no question.  I bet Herm still wants to bench Huard next week.  Konnor and I were talking earlier about how after the game the Lie Guys probably crowded around Huard’s locker and were like, “You think you’re pretty clever, don’t you Huard?  Well, we don’t have room for arrogant mavericks who play by their own rules.  Not on this team!”

5) We still don’t have much of a pass-rush.  Our defense was great, but we’ve got to find a way to get to the quarterback.  Doesn anyone have Leslie O’Neal’s number?

  1. Savage needs to be the rpimary kick returner if for no toher reason than his last one of the game. He looks like he’s quick enough on his feet to elude the first line of defense. This is big considering we do not have a great return unit. Improvisation will be key.

    Other than that… um….how bout Fonzie.Boone?

  2. i never thought i’d say this, but turk mcbride is one of my favorite players.

  3. that game was thrilling

not nearly enough snaps for boone

that Lie Guys confronting Huard joke is hilarious

  4. I really enjoyed seeing carl hugging LJ after the game. I wish he would heve been miced up so we could here the diarrhea coming out of his face. And i agree with eggs about speedwagon, get him on the field. And i would also like to think that my boy curl played a big hand in Huards very efficient afternoon. Thanks dick

  5. From the Star website today…..

    Goodbye, B.J. Sams.

The Chiefs gave up on the veteran kick returner. They released him today to make roster room for Mark Bradley.

Sams averaged 20 yards per kickoff return and 8.3 yards per punt return in his brief time with the Chiefs.

Dantrell Savage will take over as the punt returner. It’s still unclear whether Savage or Jamaal Charles will be the lead kickoff returner.

…My prayers have been answered (somewhat)
