It’s being reported out of Chiefs training camp that Turk McBride has been working with the first unit at LE, replacing Alfonso Boone. Might not be permanent, but for now at least Turk is a starter. Surprisingly, I’m OK with this. I like Boone OK at D tackle, but we can’t have him playing end. We just can’t. Move him back inside and please, for the love of god bench Ron Edwards. Having Boone and Dorsey on the inside with Tank coming off the bench could be a pretty good situation actually. Of course, Turk will likely fail on the outside. But I say start him for the first half of the season and let him prove he sucks while 7th rd pick Bryan Johnston learns the ropes. I’ve read some things about Johnston that sound promising. Let’s hope he’s a quick learner, because we don’t have anything close to a legit end to play opposite Tamba, and we need one.
So obviously I didn’t get to watch that preseason game, but I have to say I’m fairly pleased with the result. I think its lame that the Chiefs are playing up the fact that Brodie Croyle won his first game, I mean its a preseason game; but still it felt good to have the offense actually put some points on the board. That definitely wasn’t happening last preseason. Plus isn’t the bears D supposed to be pretty good? I’m not gonna read too much into this. What I’d like to see next game is the starting offense play the entire first half. I know thats unconventional, but why not let these guys find a rhythm? We need every advantage we can get
It was nice to see The Helicopter make some plays. That’d really be something if he was good. Let’s get some Tigers up in this piece! It’d be awesome if we got Maclin when he comes out. Can you imagine a Maclin-Bowe tandem? Those guys would do some damage together. Anyway, back to receivers we actually have. Can someone report on how Maurice Price looked? This guy really came from nowhere. Apparently he’s been making plays. Between Price, Franklin and Darling we have some young guys that at least deserve a look, although I doubt any of them are ready to be a competent #2 yet. Get Jeff Webb out of here. He stinks. Of course he’s friends with Herm’s son, so his roster spot is safe. Looks like the odd man out is Hard Knocks’ boy Bobby Sippio. Too bad, I kind of like Sippio. He caught a 27 yard, game-winning touchdown thursday, albeit against future Enterprise rent-a-car employees. I know Sippio probably isn’t actually good, but even his detractors would have to rather have him on the squad than Webb, right? I’m lookin at you here Koney.

i perked up when reading about Alfie Boone. i remember liking what i saw out him last year but just frankly being too jealous on behalf of Jimmy Reed to admit or be comfortable with it. what if…and the vegas oddsmakers are scrambling – there is still the entirely open & terribly coveted role of Katz’z Kaptain yet to be named…stay tuned
I do not understand the sippio phenomenom. in my mind, it only speaks to how horrendous our receivers have been for the past decade. everyone claims he has such great hands, but aren’t they all supposed to have great hands? they catch balls for a living. the reason he performs so well in preseason is that he has been recycled through the league so many times, he actually knows what he’s doing unlike the 4th stringers he plays against every preseason game. the bottomline is he is too slow. webb can at least run.
i will say my favorite chief after preseason game one is mike cox. who doesn’t love a fullback who just blocks and catches the ball in the flat?
i don’t think there would be a sippio discussion if not for hbo’s desperation for a storyline last year. i didn’t want to be one of those suckers clamoring for a sippio start. thus, my anti-sippio sentiment might be a little harsh. that’s why i made him a member of Kone Dawg’s Big Doggs.
I will agree that Sippio probably isn’t a viable NFL receiver. The people who say he “caught everything in spring training last year” are gullible beyond belief. They can’t seem to remember that Hard Knocks was a television show. However, I have seen footage of Sippio from the arena league that was pretty awesome. He put up crazy numbers there. I think his last season he had 27 touchdowns. I guess I’d just like to see what he can do in a real NFL game. We’ve already seen plenty of Jeff Webb. They threw the ball to him like 20 times that last game with Bowe needing 1 more catch to break 1,000 yards. Plus Webb is close friends with Herm’s son. It’s pretty obvious whats going on here, right?
Everything feels good after a win. But lets all take a step back and realize that brodie “he’s got a strong arm” croyle is our quarterback. And that the bears started one kyle orton at qb. That bears team will be lucky to win six games this year. I really felt like Mcgraw looked good on the field for the coin toss, and that should be the extent of his pt. I will give a little credit to chan for that first drive, but i think everybody who posts on here would look good compared to solari. It’s official, Pat Surtains days as a starting nfl CB are over. But i will not write the tank off yet. Apparently he took part in some off-season workout called log-bearing aqua lunges. Get this, you do lunges in a rocky creek bed with a 75 pound log on your shoulders. Thats the offseason commitment i am looking for. If only ryan sims would have got his hands on that workout
great to see my boy Curl posting here. as far as the log-bearing aqua lunges… sorry tank, i simply don’t believe that you did that during the offseason.
have you guys heard the buzz about this Barth guy? i still like StoneHeart, but now i’m torn. imagine if we had a chiefs group known as The Firm: Dingle, Darsch, Darling, and Barth.
Hello boys, just stumbled on this board and I’m pretty excited to have a Chiefs forum. I was at the Chiefs-Bears game and here are my thoughts on the game.
LJ looked good. I hope he has a chip on his shoulder about being a pussy last year. The only thing that makes him good is that he is angry. Diapers, Priest Holmes, those were the two things that drove him to be good. Then he got paid and worked on record deals and his clothing line. I don’t know if it will sustain all year, actually I’ll say there is a 80% chance he throws in the towel when we are 2-6, but we’ll see, maybe he wants to be legit.
Will Franklin – Our Tiger looked good, he is a big physical receiver, he will not be D Bowe, but I’m telling you, he could be a nice compliment to Bowe. I watched Franklin for 4 years, and no one can deny his athleticism. It’s all about drive in the NFL, and I think he’s got it. He looked GOOD.
Price – that kid looked pretty good, I hope he makes it as 5th receiver. He ran tough on TD slant to fight through a DB. Made a great catch on a fade, that was just inches from a TD.
I want our WR’s to be Bowe, Franklin, Darling, Webb, Sippio/Price. I know that won’t happen, but I like the upside. I am not a huge Webb fan, but he showed a few flashes down the stretch last year, but not sold on him. Darling is a speedster and a name, so he’s set. I really like Sippio, he can be a big possesion receiver, there is nothing wrong with that. I don’t care if he is slow. Sammie Parker was fast. Nough said.
Cottam looked good and Charles is pretty exciting as well, I think our offense has some weapons, and we are so young at the skill positions.
I couldn’t see a lot of the D, hard to see who was making plays without TV replays. I saw Carr get burned a couple times, but hey, D-2 rookie CB, hard to cover Hester. Saw Turk get some good pressure on one play, that was nice to see. Hali looked like he was busting his ass when I saw him, but saw that article where he said he felt slow. Linebackers seemed a little non-existent, but saw DJ put a vicious hit on someone. Page looked deece, saw Pollard out of position couple times (pretty stando there). All in all pretty good effort.
Yes its preseason. But the Bears D is good, and it was healthy. Brodie drove 16 plays on Urlacher, Mike Brown, Alex Brown, Tillman. I just think it couldn’t have gone much better. Its ok to be a little excited.
I’m very excited, I was more down on the chiefs last year than at any point in my life. Because the front office had no commitment to winning, they put a bullshit product on the field, but now with this draft and these young guys, I’m fired up. I haven’t been this excited for Chiefs in a long time.
